A £72 million package to improve railway services in Greater Manchester has been announced, but a long-term project to add extra platforms to the city’s busiest station has been scrapped.
The train drivers’ union has received “significant” pay offers for its members in Wales and Scotland, in “stark contrast” to the response from the Conservative government in Westminster.
