A £72 million package to improve railway services in Greater Manchester has been announced, but a long-term project to add extra platforms to the city’s busiest station has been scrapped.
Plans to shake up the railway network may be watered down as legislation to give powers to a proposed new public sector body could be delayed, it has been reported.
