The fleet of new ‘Electrostar’ units should be in service with the Essex operator before the end of November.
THE first of six Class 387/3 units for c2c was delivered to East Ham depot for training on October 21, when No. 387302 was moved across by
No. 66953 as the 7X36/21.06 Bletchley-East Ham following completion of commissioning. It was joined three days later by No. 387301, which arrived behind No. 66561 as the 7X35/20.59 Bletchley-East Ham. The pair undertook their first outing on the LT&S route to Shoeburyness on October 26.
It is expected that the first of the new units will enter service before the end of November, being used initially to provide extra capacity within the current timetable. A revised timetable is due to be introduced in January 2017,
by which time all six sets will be available for service. From this point, the units will operate as two 12-car formations.
