Further locomotives were returned to the main line during October, including the reinstatement of another Class 37.
LATE October proved to be productive for Colas Rail as more motive power resources became available.
The highlight was undoubtedly the reappearance of No. 37099 back on the national network for the first time in over 19 years, its resurrection having been completed by HNRC at Barrow Hill. Still retaining its split headcode boxes and with a fresh coat of BR blue applied, albeit temporarily, the one-time preserved Type 3 made its first outing on October 19. Accompanied by No. 60096 for insurance, this was a light engine run from Barrow Hill to Doncaster and back, which was repeated the next day without the
Type 5 in tow.

Reinstated to the COTS pool,
No. 37099 was next noted on October 24 when it and No. 37025 were sent from Barrow Hill to Melton Mowbray in order to assist No. 37611 and its test train back to Derby. The returnee led the way on the 3Z11/16.28 Old Dalby-Derby RTC, before all three Class 37s headed for Barrow Hill the next afternoon.
