The final Mk.3a RFMs are about to be eliminated from Greater Anglia use.
THE removal of Mk.3a RFM (Restaurant Buffet First Modular) No. 10200 from service in July, for rebuilding as a standard class vehicle with a smaller buffet area, left just two coaches of this type in service with Greater Anglia, both of which should be removed from traffic in the coming months.
The two remaining are Nos. 10212 and 10229. No. 10212 is part of the NC64 ‘Pretendolino’ set, which is now officially leased to TransPennine Express, but was due to remain at Norwich until around the end of July. No. 10229 is formed in the NC06 set and is expected to be returned to Porterbrook as it is not included in the rebuild programme.
