THE first of four Loram Corrective Rail Grinder (CRG) trains for Network Rail has returned to Derby RTC after testing at the High Marnham Test Track in Nottinghamshire.
Based at Tuxford since early January, CRG(01) departed for Loram’s base at Derby RTC and the attention of the wheel lathe on February 22 behind DCR No. 31452.
Correcting the story in our February issue, the four vehicles are Nos. DR79301 (Control Car), DR79302/3 (16 Stone Grind Cars) and DR79304 (Rear Support Car). They also wear the 12-digit numbers Nos. 99 70 9427 038-3, 99 70 9427 039-1, 99 70 9427 040-9 and 99 70 9427 041-7 respectively.
The second train, CRG(02), is reportedly now also at Tuxford on the High Marnham Test Track after a brief spell at Loram’s workshops in Derby.

Its numbers are
Nos. DR79401 (99 70 9427 042-5), DR79402 (99 70 9427 043-3), DR79403 (99 70 9427 044-1) and DR79404 (99 70 9427 045-8).
The next set to arrive is due in spring and it will be PLG(01), a Loram Plain Line Rail Grinder.
