Something terminal for collectors

by

A total of five examples of signage from London terminals will be offered together for the first time in a single auction when they come under the hammer at Railwayana UK Ltd’s online auction running from March 1-3. Rare, mint, examples from King’s Cross (York Road) and Paddington, feature alongside Broad Street and Charing Cross totems, with a SR Waterloo target also being offered. The London signs are among an offering of over 70 British Railways enamel totem station signs from across the regions.

Also in the same sale, of interest to Bulleid enthusiasts, is one of the original four SOUTHERN brass tender plates that were affixed to the first two Bulleid Pacific locomotives, 21C1 Channel Packet and 21C2 Union Castle in 1941. These first two locos were subsequently overweight and the cast brass cabside, front buffer beam and tender plates were not continued and the locos reverted to painted numbers/letters. The sale also includes a brass nameplate from 21C2 Union Castle, a set of Bulleid loco electric headlamps (ex-Bert Hitchen collection) as well as the chimney and flamecut numeric cabside panel from No. 35005 Canadian Pacific’s last overhaul.
