Third rail DC electric railways featured prominently in the winning portfolios submitted in the inaugural competition organised by the Railway Photographic Society.
The winners of the first Young Railway Photographer of the Year were crowned in April of this year. The award ceremony took place in the National Railway Museum in York and was chaired by the Network Rail chair, Sir Peter Hendy.
